As another successful winter season comes to a close, the Oak Brook Park District Foundation is proud to reflect on months filled with community engagement, meaningful partnerships, and memorable fundraising events. Before we turn the page to a new season, we are pleased to share a recap of this year’s highlights.
Community at the Center
This year, we were honored to forge a new partnership with the Oak Brook Historical Society. Together, we welcomed guests at the Winter Lights at Central Park by hosting the Cocoa Cabin. Where together we served hot cocoa and warm community spirit. This collaboration not only strengthened our connection with the Oak Brook community but also supported important efforts to preserve the village’s rich history.
Brews and Views
A returning community favorite, Brews and Views, made a successful comeback in an exciting new format. Despite chilly temperatures and a rescheduled event date, the turnout exceeded expectations and reaffirmed the event’s popularity. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Alter Brewing of Oak Brook for generously volunteering their staff and providing the featured brews that helped make the fundraiser our largest of the year.
Winter Lights at Central Park
Since its inaugural year in 2020, the Foundation has proudly supported the Winter Lights at Central Park. What began as a modest display has grown into a beloved Oak Brook tradition. Today, the half‑mile trail features thousands of twinkling lights, animated displays, themed soundscapes, and an atmosphere brimming with seasonal cheer. Seeing our mission reflected so vividly in this community event continues to inspire our work.
Planning for Next Year
We look forward to bringing these innovative experiences back for the upcoming winter season. If you’re interested in volunteering or serving as a Foundation Board Member, we invite you to get in touch. With your support, we can continue to create inclusive events that empower everyone to stay active and fully enjoy their community.
