The Oak Brook Park District hosted the 14th annual Pink 5K walk/run on May 11th, and it was a huge success! Partnering with the Oak Brook Park District Foundation and UCM | AdventHealth, the community came together to raise over $24,000 for the Open Arms Outreach Fund at Hinsdale Hospital Foundation, bring free mammograms to women in need due to lack or insufficiency of insurance. Every $250.00 donated provides a free mammogram to women in need.

This year brought an exciting new feature: participants could make additional donations during the registration process. This innovative approach resulted in an extra $6,000 in contributions, setting a new record and demonstrating the community's generosity and commitment to the cause.

The Pink 5K was more than just a race; it was a vibrant community event. The day was filled with energy and enthusiasm as participants of all ages came together for a cause that touches many lives. The event featured 18 vendors, offering a variety of goods and services that added to the festive atmosphere. Participants enjoyed snacks and beverages donated by Jewel Osco of Westmont, The Flowers Group Enterprises, Christ Church of Oak Brook, and Sheridan at Oak Brook creating a lively and supportive environment.

The event wouldn't have been possible without the support of our generous sponsors. We were proud to have two presenting sponsors, Evergreen Bank Group and UCM | AdventHealth, whose contributions were crucial to the event's success. Additionally, two corporate sponsors, Allegiant Fire Protection and Avlon Industries, played a significant role in ensuring the event ran smoothly. Their dedication and support are deeply appreciated, and we look forward to continuing these valuable partnerships in the future.

Participants not only enjoyed the camaraderie and sense of community but also felt a deep sense of fulfillment knowing they were contributing to a meaningful cause. Many shared personal stories and experiences, highlighting the impact of the Open Arms Outreach Fund and the importance of access to mammograms for early detection of breast cancer.

The 14th annual Pink 5K walk/run was a testament to the power of community spirit and collective action. We couldn't be more thankful for the lasting partnerships and the overwhelming support from everyone involved. Your contributions and participation made this year's event the best one yet, and we are already looking forward to next year's Pink 5K! Thank you for making a difference and helping us save lives, one step at a time.
